CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB of VICTORIA INC 55th CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
A huge thank you to The Cavalier King Charles of Victoria for the invitation to judge your beautiful Cavaliers at the prestigious 55th show and what a wonderful experience it was. I enjoyed every minute and will treasure the memory. The ring was immaculate, made special with the purple bunting and gold bows and it was obvious your Committee had worked extremely hard to make the weekend unique. The celebration on Monday with those beautiful cupcakes was very special.
Thank you also to my amazing steward Jason. Thank you also to the exhibitors, some travelling from afar. The effort, organisation and planning to attend Specialties these days is enormous, and it was appreciated.
The depth and quality in your Cavaliers were totally exceptional, I was splitting hairs between placings in most classes. There were dogs here today that could win anywhere. Sadly, of concern was the dental hygiene and small teeth in quite a few young adults. Poor dental hygiene exacerbates any possible heart issues and as Cavaliers are under the spotlight worldwide, we as breeders and exhibitors have an important role to play in the overall health of the breed by keeping it under control as best we can.
BABY PUPPY DOG (8 entries) I did not open any Baby puppy mouths, but checked the muzzle in profile. Babies are teething, possibly tender and don’t need to have any hassles at this stage in their show career.
1 st MERSEYPORT THE BARITONE (AI)B/O M Madigan Just over 3 months, well broken Blenheim, such an attractive face with expressive eyes and excellent pigmentation. Nicely balanced standing. Well bodied for his age, firm topline and carried himself with aplomb when he moved. Very promising.
2 nd BLACKLASH LUCKY STRIKE (AI) B/O E Davison Almost six months Black & tan with an appealing face and soft expression. Correct placement of tan markings. Moved confidently for a youngster and carried himself well on the move. Just not as well balanced as 1.
3 rd APSOLOOTLY INK JETT Bred R Mayor/O K Brooksby Mature tri coloured boy with appealing head, and eyes showing desired expression. Good length of muzzle, but would prefer the nose leather placement at the end of the muzzle. Firm topline on the move with adequate reach and drive.
BABY PUPPY BITCH (9 entries) 1 st DAPSEN THE SECRETS WE KEPT B/O D L Petersen Such a captivating face. Beautifully balanced head shape, with large, dark, round eyes, frontally placed and set well apart. Correct ear set. Excellent topline, moderate bone with perfect front, tidy coming and going, and well balanced movement in profile. A very promising young lady.
2 nd MERSEYPORT THE SOPRANO (AI) B/O M Madigan Litter sister to Baby Puppy dog. Well broken Blenheim, with a very sweet Cavalier face, melting chocolate box eyes. Good shoulders, front and topline. Moved confidently. Tail set a little higher.
3 rd MERSEYPORT THE CONTRALTO (AI) B/O M Madigan Litter sister to above. Another well broken Blenheim puppy. Dark eyes with soft expression. Well made throughout and she presents a very good outline standing. A little erratic on the move today but more experience should help in this regard.
MINOR PUPPY DOG: (4 entries) 1 ST DAPSEN RENDEZVOUS B/O D L Petersen The outline of this Blenheim Minor puppy caught my eye. Excellent head shape and well balanced, expressive dark eyes and brows correct length of muzzle with fill still developing. Well made shoulders and front assembly. Very smart little mover in profile, and coming and going. One to watch.
2 nd CAVASHON GAME CHANGER B/O K Brooksby Exuberant young male showing the outgoing Cavalier temperament. Well broken Blenheim, very good head shape, expressive eyes, good nose pigmentation. Balanced mover in profile.
3 rd MATMOR BARITONE B/O M Morse/ W Henderson A very happy Ruby boy, showing off his fluffy puppy coat today. Very appealing head with excellent expression, enough length of nose. Well-made body, just right for length, and he moved with balanced reach and drive.
PUPPY DOG: (5 entries/1 absent) 1 st LACELEE DREAM LOVER B/ML Gray O/ C Rogers Lighter marked Blenheim, but with rich tan markings, mature 8 months puppy. Face mark did not distract from his appealing head and expression. Good front, and angles front and rear, short hocks he maintained a very good topline and tail carriage on the move.
2 nd MATMOR CORONATION B/O M Morse & W Henderson My notes state number 17, but the official catalogue states number 9. Hope this is correct. Tricolour 7 months and the youngest in the class. Head still developing, not the soft expression of 1. However, this puppy is striking in outline, standing and moving. One to watch.
3 rd DAPSEN NOBODYS FOOL B/O DL Petersen Very happy, outgoing 8 months old Blenheim boy. Good head shape developing, dark round eyes, good ear placement and carriage. Very good outline showing off the balanced front and rear angles. Another one to watch.
JUNIOR DOG: (4 entries) 1 st MATMOR ESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY B/O M Morse/W Henderson Eye catching, 17month, black and tan, well balanced outline, neither too short nor too long. Well balanced head, with the softest, sweetest expression from the large, round dark eyes which are frontally placed. Correct nose length and tidy lipline. All these attributes framed by well feathered ears. Well-structured fore and hindquarters. Good body, firm topline. Short loin. Purposeful and tidy coming and going. Balanced reach and drive in profile. Another promising youngster.
BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW 2 nd JESSIECAV SECRET SPECIAL AGENT B/O S SMITH Well broken Tricolour similar in age to 1, with flecking showing in the white. Beautiful long ears frame the wellbalanced head. This boy has exquisite expression, the lustrous eyes we all want in our puppies. Correct nose length. Good body. Moved soundly coming and going.
3 RD MARCAVAN LIBERATOR B/O M Silvester Another well broken tri colour, again with the ticking. Large eyes with kind expression, eyes frontally placed. This boy stands four square naturally, is well made throughout, and very lively moving.
INTERMEDIATE DOG (6 ENTRIES) 1 ST CAVASHON LIFE IN THE FAST LANE B/O K Brooksby This 2.5year old, lightly marked Blenheim boy caught my eye when the class circled the ring the first time around. Lots to like about this boy, from the attractive headpiece to the tip of his tail, he just flowed. Large round eyes, looking forward, gave him the gentlest, sweetest expression. Correctly placed long well feathered ears framed the face. Moderate length of neck flowed into well placed shoulders. Good straight front, firm topline, excellent tail placement and carriage. Presented in excellent condition and expertly handled, this elegant Toy Spaniel pushed hard for the Dog Challenge and then won over the gorgeous Open Bitch to be my RUNNER UP TO BEST IN SHOW and BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW
2 nd EIREANNMADA REUBEN JAMES B/O G Browne Ruby male, 2.5years and very outgoing with great personality. Correct flat skull and ear set, eyes set well apart, however a darker eye preferred and nose a little off today. Good size and shape overall, neither too long nor too short. When settled, this boy showed good reach and drive in profile movement.
3 rd CH DAPSEN HIGH FLYER B/O DL Petersen Well broken Blenheim 2 years 9mths. Flat skull with correctly placed ears framing a handsome face showing expressive eyes and brows. Straight front legs, good body and topline, tad long in loin, but a very tidy mover coming and going.
LIMIT DOG (6 entries/1 absent) 1 st KASADECAV WHISKY TANGO FOXTROT B/O C Taylor Well broken 2yrs 3months Blenheim. Slightly rounded in skull, but pleasing head with dark eyes and soft expression. Very tidy outline, flowing from neck to tail tip. Very good profile movement. Exercise and conditioning would use those short hocks to advantage.
2 nd BLACKTREE TOUCHED BY BLUE B/O AJ Kleinitz Very close between 1. 2yrs 8mths This boy let me down at the last minute which was a shame as there is lots to like about him. Rich Blenheim markings, well broken. Appealing head and expression, correct muzzle length. Very good outline on the move, showing good use of hindquarters.
3 rd MORNHAVEN MONET B/ G Beckett O/ P Nichols Another well broken Blenheim, 3yrs 5mths Well balanced head shape, flat skull, very expressive dark eyes, good nose length and depth, tidy lipline. Carrying less weight across the shoulders would enhance his overall movement.
AUSTRALIAN BRED DOG: (8 entries) 1 st CH COLOORA LA CARRERA B/L Morris O/ R Mayor Another who caught my eye as he entered the ring. This elegant, well-marked, rich dark chestnut Blenheim boy has a lot to offer even though he is up to size. His well-balanced, most beautiful headpiece was one of the best on display today. The flat skull, framed by well feathered ears enhanced the widely spaced, large dark lustrous eyes that were almost perfection. Well filled under the eyes with balanced muzzle. Good length of neck, well bodied, and presenting a good outline standing. In excellent bloom and condition. Just a tad long in loin and not so tidy behind today.
2 nd CH INNESVEIL LOVES DESIGN JC B/ J Mc Innnes O/ J Giggins Blenheim 6yrs and carrying his age well. More the size of Cavalier preferred. Pleasing head with dark eyes, unfortunately showing a little white which can mar the overall soft expression. Good topline. Well bodied. Very good outline standing, but movement let him down today.
3 rd CH MATMOR JOSE CARRERAS(AI) B/O M Morse & W Henderson Black and tan 4.5yrs, rich tan in the right places. Attractive headpiece with soft, sweet expression, framed by correctly set, well feathered ears. Moderate bone. Good neck and well bodied. Good profile movement, but soft topline and elevated tail carriage marred the outline.
OPEN DOG: (7 entries/2 absent) This class was exceptional, although all different in style, they all had the key elements of breed type, elegance and quality that could earn them top honours anywhere. (I like the US system where an Award of Merit can be given to outstanding individuals who although do not win the top awards on the day, are given some recognition)
Each could win this class on another day, and they did!
1 st AM GR CH /AUST SUP CH SHEEBA ALTHOF RED IS BLACK (USA) B/K Ostman O/ V McLaughlin & K Ostman The star of the day. Five year old, well broken Blenheim dog, rich tan and in full bloom and condition. Neither too large, nor too small. Generous well balanced, masculine head, with soft appealing face. Gentle dark round eyes, framed by well feathered ears of good length. Black nose leather located at the end of muzzle, well filled under the eyes. Straight front legs of moderate bone. Firm, level topline on the move with balanced reach and drive. A little more reach of neck would enhance the outline, but good enough to be CHALLENGE DOG and BEST in SHOW
2 nd CH MATMOR POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE B/O M Morse & W Henderson Handsome almost five year old, Ruby male. Slightly longer than 1. Very full of himself. Well balanced, masculine head shape, expressive, frontally placed eyes, with a twinkle of mischief. Nose pigmentation could have been darker. Very good shoulders with balanced hindquarters. Firm, level topline, standing and on the move. He has a rich chestnut jacket, in excellent condition and is carrying a good length of furnishings. He was up on his toes and carrying a flag today.
3 rd SUP CH CARIBELLE ICY COLD BUT COOL (AI) B/O Caribelle Kennels A classic, well broken Blenheim male 6yrs. Very appealing head shape and dark eyes, with soft expression, widely spaced. Clear face markings framed by long well feathered ears. Rich dark tan and pearly white top-coat. All furnishings in excellent bloom and condition. Very good straight front with moderate bone. Balanced shoulders and rear which he used well in profile movement. Just a tad longer in loin than preferred.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH: (11 entries) 1 st EIREANNMADA THAT’LL BE THE DAY B/O G Browne Very lightly marked Blenheim, 8mths. Well bodied, with generous sized head. Soft but expressive eyes, excellent ear carriage, alert and on her toes. Well-made shoulders, straight front and strong hindquarters. A picture on the move, with firm topline. Balanced reach and drive.
2 nd CAVASHON SUGAR RUSH B/O K Brooksby Blenheim, with rich tan markings. Very feminine, dark eyes frontally placed, excellent nose pigmentation. Very good reach of neck and carried herself well on the move although the tail carriage was a distraction.
3 rd DAPSEN WHATEVER IT TAKES B/O C Taylor Heavily marked tricolour, tan in correct places. Dark eyes with the sweetest expression, well set ears. Good body. Elegant profile moving around the ring.
PUPPY BITCH: (8 entries / 1 absent) 1 st CARIBELLE KAHLUA ON ICE (AI) B/O Caribelle Kennels) Quality 11mth puppy, precociously mature for her age. Dark eyes with soft expression, well-proportioned head, with balanced face markings. Rich chestnut body markings on a pearly white background. Good front and shoulders, well defined hocks which she used positively going away. A little longer in loin than preferred. Very well-conditioned and presented.
BEST PUPPY IN SHOW 2 nd LOOKINGGLASS ENCHANTMENT B/O J Humphries Well broken Blenheim, 10mths. Good head proportions and balanced with her body. Excellent eyes and expression, fully pigmented dark nose leather, full muzzle, with correct nose length. Good straight front. Good body, well sprung ribs for her age. She had a well-balanced outline on the move in profile.
3 rd CAVREALM NIGHT SKYE B/R Wilson O/R Wilson & L Korving Another well broken Blenheim, 11mths. This girl did not help her handler in any way. Appealing face with excellent eye colour. Full muzzle, nose of correct length. Adult coat coming in nicely. Very good outline standing.
JUNIOR BITCH: (11 entries/3 absent) 1 st CH DAPSEN DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE B/O D L Petersen Stylish, 14mth Blenheim. Large, dark round eyes showed a very soft, feminine expression, well balanced head, framed by well set ears. Good front, neck length and shoulders. Firm topline. She kept her well balanced outline standing and on the move.
2 nd BRADES JIMAYA B/O B Smidt Another well broken Blenheim of good size. Well balanced head shape, flat skull, appealing eyes and expression, good ear set. Straight front. Well bodied. Short hocks. Overall well- balanced but just thought her tail placement and carriage was distracting.
3 rd CAVASHON CHIT CHAT B/O K Brooksby Didn’t make the best of herself today. Sweet head and expression, very good outline standing. Kept a firm topline on the move. INTERMEDIATE BITCH: (10 entries 2 absent) 1 st MATMOR IT GIRL B/O M Morse & W Henderson What a showy Ruby with superb outline, standing and moving. 22 months. Attractive head even with a deeper stop than preferred, eyes especially appealing, framed by flowing chestnut ears. Darkly pigmented nose. Correct front leg to body ratio. Flowing neck into shoulders, firm topline, well- balanced reach and drive.
2 nd JEZZAMONT LOLLOBRIGIDA B/ L Oliver O/ C Underhill Rich Blenheim almost same age as above. Nicely shaped top skull, with good ear length. Very good eye shape and expression with eyes both facing forward. More cushioning in the muzzle would give better balance to head shape. Showed true Cavalier temperament moving and standing and she kept her topline on the move.
3 rd MATMOR COSMOPOLITAN B/O M Morse & W Henderson Just over 2yrs extroverted Ruby of rich, even chestnut colour. Appealing face, with a twinkle of mischief. Excellent head carriage and outline. Straight front legs, well bodied, good angles in shoulder and hindquarters, in full coat. Moved steadily with balanced action most of the time. My notes say “wild child”.
LIMIT BITCH: (9 entries 1 absent) 1 st DAPSEN CAN YOU SEE ME NOW B/O DL Petersen Another well broken Blenheim, youngest in the class. Lots to like about her. Very appealing face, sweet expression, well set ears. Moderate bone. Good straight front. Excellent outline in profile, on the move and standing, but could be tidier going away
. 2 nd MERSEYPORT JEWEL IN THE CROWN B/O M Madigan Very close decision with these two. Excellent top skull, extremely dark, appealing eyes, well pigmented nose leather, very good ear-set. Very good fore and hindquarters, and topline. Showed impressive profile on the move.
3 rd CAIREEN FRANKLY MY DEAR B/O R & L Hocking Pearly white, well broken coat colour, and just over 3.5 years. Attractive feminine head shape, dark eyes. Although a little white showing, and nose a little lighter today, I couldn’t hold it against her as other qualities outweighed these. Well balanced body with good ribbing. She carried herself well, on the move using those short hocks.
AUSTRALIAN BRED BITCH: (7 entries) 1 st CH DAPSEN THE SECRETS WE KEEP B/O D L Petersen Well broken tricolour. Appealing head shape, very good expression. Moderate bone. Well bodied. Won the class on her well-structured shape and outline and more furnishings would have enhanced her chances. She was very eye-catching on the move.
2 nd CH WOODHAY JAMEKA (AI) B/O S Inkpen Blenheim, well broken markings, just over 5yrs. Very pretty head shape, excellent soft expression, with nicely cushioned, well-filled muzzle. Very good earset. Moderately boned, well bodied but I would not want any more weight on her. Maintained a good topline on the move.
3 rd CH DAVENTRI ICE DANCER B/O Daventri Kennels Well broken tricolour, similar age to above. Very good head shape with dark eyes and excellent expression, with just enough fill under the eyes. Long, well feathered ears framed her pretty face. Well bodied, with good angulation in forehand and hindquarters. She showed elegance on the move, with very good tail set and carriage.
OPEN BITCH: (6 entries 2 absent) And what a class of such well performed, quality bitches. 1 st SUPREME CH DAPSEN MIRROR MIRROR B/O DL Petersen A five year old, well broken Blenheim girl, with exuberance and personality. Such a pretty face with large, dark, round eyes, with a sparkling expression. Black nose leather, correct flat skull, and framed by well feathered ears. Well structured shoulders and front assembly, well ribbed body, strong hindquarters and firm topline which she kept, standing and moving. Animated on the move and did everything asked of her by her handler. In the words of Frank Sinatra “One classy dame”
CHALLENGE BITCH 2 nd SUPREME CH MATMOR SOCIALITE B/O M Morse & W Henderson Almost 5yr old black and tan of excellent quality and good size. Large, dark, round eyes, with the sweetest expression framed by those glorious ears. Moderate neck with good shoulders. Well balanced leg and body ratio, good ribbing, strong hindquarters. Superb furnishings and tanning in the right places. Well balanced standing and on the move. She has all the attributes of an aristocratic Toy spaniel.
RESERVE CHALLENGE BITCH 3 rd CH CARIBELLE FANTASY ON ICE B/ Caribelle Kennels O/ R McCullough Another top quality Blenheim with rich chestnut markings, just a little larger than 1 & 2. Flat skull with balanced head markings. Balanced head shape, with appealing dark, expressive eyes, frontally placed. Correct earset and well- filled muzzle of good length. Moderately boned with good angulation front and rear. Very good length of neck, flowing into level topline, which she maintained moving in profile.
Shelley Walker Redcrest Cavaliers New Zealand Judges Resume: Janine King Thank you to Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Victoria for the opportunity to judge your show, made even more special as it was your 50th anniversary.
It really was a wonderful honour and the day absolutely flew past. Thank you to my stewards who kept the day running so smoothly. A special thankyou for making both Mark and I feel so welcome to your beautiful state. The breed is in good stead in Australia going by not only the older classes but many of the youngsters coming through.
It was interesting to read the pedigrees as I was doing my report and I will look forward to entering them in my database, being a bit of a pedigree nerd. Well done to the breeders!!
Temperaments were wonderful and there wasn’t a single dog that showed any hesitation at being handled and examined on the table, they al exhibited the temperament Cavaliers are renowned for. I was concerned about the number of very small, sometimes dirty teeth. It is an area to be watchful of, dental health influences the overall health of a dog, and small teeth compound the problem.
My other comment is about muscle tone and yes, they are a toy breed, but they are also a spaniel, there were examples of where coming and going movement wasn’t the best and more muscle and fitness would go a long way to improving that. There are many that I am going to watch their show and whelping box careers with interest both as sires and dams and I look forward to visiting again as a spectator.
Janine King Nidra Cavaliers New Zealand
BABY PUPPY DOG 1 st - Caribelle Knls: CARIBELLE PUPPET MASTER a just 3-month-old tricolour dog, very nicely marked, moved well around the ring keeping his topline. Attractive head, with good blaze and pigment. Correct moderate bone. Correct neck, both reach set into well angulated shoulders.
2 nd - Marilyn Madigan: MERSEYPORT THE BARITONE AI a blenheim puppy of similar age to first, another very appealing puppy with attractive head. I just preferred the movement on number one
3 rd - Ms D L Petersen: DAPSEN THE SECRETS WE SHARE a tricolour of similar age to 1 and 2 but less mature. Already showing signs of having a lovely coat. Didn’t have the confidence of the first two in the ring but a very promising puppy.
4 th - Caribelle Knls: CARIBELLE TINDER SWINDLER (AI)
5 th - K. BROOKSBY: APSOLOOTLY INK JETT
BABY PUPPY BITCH 1 st - Marilyn Madigan: MERSEYPORT THE SOPRANO AI A well-marked blenheim bitch, a very pretty feminine expression, large dark round eyes and dark pigment, moved really well with a correct topline, tailset and used her hind angulation to advantage, –
Best Baby Puppy in Show 2 nd - Caribelle Knls: CARIBELLE RATHER SAUCY a well-marked tricolour girl, correct large dark eyes and pigment with a pleasing expression, rich tan markings on her head, moved well, just preferred the slightly more feminine head of number 1
3 rd - Joy McInnes: INNESVEIL NORTHERN AFFAIR a slightly heavier marked tricolour bitch, the eldest in the class. Unfortunately, doesn’t have the correct coat texture at the moment and hoping that corrects itself as she matures. Gained this placing due to her expression and lovely large dark round eyes and the use of her short hocks and level topline on the move.
4 th - Caribelle Knls: CARIBELLE SHOTGUN ANNIE (AI)
5 th - Ms D L Petersen: DAPSEN THE SECRETS WE KEPT
I enjoyed the Baby Puppy classes and thought there was some very promising young puppies. I was very pleased once I saw the catalogue that there were littermates in the top placings.
Minor Puppy Dog 1 st - Kym Brooksby: CAVASHON GAME CHANGER – an almost 8-month-old blenheim dog, pleasant head, moved well driving off well angulated hind quarters, would prefer slightly more shoulder angulation. A real showman, and I hope that he has done his growing.
2 nd - Ms D L Petersen: DAPSEN RENDEZVOUS – a younger blenheim dog only just a few days over 6 months, attractive head with large dark eyes, a lovely rich colour, missing some nose pigment. Moved well, his tailset and carriage let him down today.
3 rd - Mathew Morse & Will Henderson: MATMOR BARITONE a 7-month-old ruby dog, a lot to like about this puppy, with large dark eyes and one to watch for the future, incorrect coat texture at the moment, which I am hopeful will correct. Flying his tail today.
Puppy Dog 1 st - Mathew Morse & Will Henderson: MATMOR CORONATION a nicely marked tricolour dog - the youngest in the class at just over 6 months old. A head that is just going to mature nicely with lovely pigment and large dark eyes. Correct bone for his age and kept a lovely topline and tail carriage on the move and moved soundly.
2 nd - Ms D L Petersen: DAPSEN NOBODYS FOOL a heavier marked blenheim dog, slightly larger than the others in the class. Another lovely head with large dark eyes, moved well although a little proud of his tail today.
3 rd - Mrs. Claire Rogers: LACELEE DREAM LOVER a well-marked and coated blenheim dog. Another with an attractive head and expression. Moved OK, I think more muscle tone would see him moving better especially viewed from behind.
4 th - Mrs A J Kleinitz: BLACKTREE THE ILLUSIONIST
Junior Dog 1 st - Mathew Morse & Will Henderson: MATMOR ESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY a very attractive black and tan, his head is ideal for his age, with a great balance of length of muzzle and fill under the eyes. Large dark round eyes set well into his head and when he uses his ears, a lovely correct top skull. A correct body shape, angulation and size. Full of exuberance! Because of his quality he made the cut for the CC. – Junior in Show
2 nd - M Silvester: MARCAVAN LIBERATOR a very well-marked tricolour dog with a wonderful coat texture. A pleasing head for his age, moved soundly although occasionally was a little proud of his tail. Lovely size and bone.
3 rd - Joy McInnes: INNESVEIL RIVERBOAT DREAMS (AI) – a heavier marked blenheim dog who decided not to make the most of himself today, sadly. Has a very correct and attractive head and expression and without a doubt would have pushed harder if he had moved more freely.
4 th - B Wright & A Whitehouse: BELLJARI HERE COMES THE SUN
5 th - Sue Smith: JESSICAV SECRET SPECIAL AGENT
Intermediate Dog 1 st - Greg Browne: EIREANNMADA REUBEN JAMES a ruby dog, with a lovely rich coloured, quality coat of the right texture. A real showman and moved around the ring soundly, with great drive and kept a correct topline and tail carriage. Large round dark eyes and good pigment, correct skull and balance of muzzle. His overall quality meant that he won this strong class and was in the final cut for the CC.
2 nd - KYM BROOKSBY: CH. CAVASHON ORIGINAL SIN a well-marked blenheim dog, rich colour, and quality coat., lovely size. A pleasant head with large dark eyes, well set ears and correct pigment. I would prefer a shallower stop and slightly more length of muzzle for a better balance. Moved very soundly, with a level topline.
3 rd - Joy McInnes: INNESVEIL NORTHERN DREAM (AI) a well-marked blenheim dog, correct texture and length of coat. Large dark eye and good pigment as for number 2, I would prefer a shallower stop and more length of muzzle. He moved soundly although at times erratically for his handler.
4 th - KYM BROOKSBY: CAVASHON LIFE IN THE FAST LANE 5 th - Ms D L Petersen: CH. DAPSEN HIGH FLYER
Limit Dog 1 st - Miss C Taylor: KASADECAV WHISKY TANGO FOXTROT - a heavily coated 2 year old blenheim dog, coat colour is a little pale. A lovely size and beautifully presented. Moved well. His lower ear set and unwillingness to use his ears meant that his skull appeared domed at times
2 nd - Joy McInnes: INNESVEIL HOGANS HERO (AI) – a rich, well-marked and coated, 4-year-old blenheim dog. Sadly, just wasn’t going to play ball with his handler today, very frustrating for me and I am sure her too. A lovely head, with beautiful dark pigment, large lustrous round eyes a well-balanced head with no exaggeration.
3 rd - Mrs A J Kleinitz: BLACKTREE TOUCHED BY BLUE – an 18-month-old well marked blenheim dog, Correct size and shape. Kept a level topline on the move but not moving as soundly when viewed from behind. Large dark round eyes, good pigment and a pleasing expression.
4 th - M Silvester: MARCAVAN HIGH SEAS 5 th - Daventri Kennels: DAVENTRI SECRET WHISPERS
Australian Bred Dog 1 st - Mr ML Morse & Mr WA Henderson: CH MATMOR JOSE CARRERAS (AI) – a 4.5-year-old quality black and tan dog, a really pleasing head and expression with large, dark round eyes, correct length of muzzle. I wish he would use his ears more to show off his correct skull and ear set. Moved well and kept a strong level topline.
2 nd - Mr R M Mayor: CH. COLOORA LA CARRERA a beautifully handled and presented 2.5-year-old blenheim dog in superb coat. A larger dog that never stopped showing and pushed hard. Large round dark eyes and lovely deep pigment. I would prefer a slightly shallower stop and a slightly more tapered muzzle. Another one that I think could benefit from more muscle tone.
3 rd - Greg Browne: EIREANNMADA KINGS CROSS a richly coloured 2-year-old blenheim dog. An attractive head with large dark eyes and great pigment and a true gentle expression. Just didn’t have the coat and finish of the first and second dogs. Once he settled, he moved well with a strong topline.
4 th - Daventri Kennels: CH DAVENTRI JEWELL ON FIRE
5 th - KYM BROOKSBY: CH. CAVASHON INK MASTER
Open Dog – what a privilege to judge such a quality filled class 1 st - Mathew Morse & Will Henderson: CH MATMOR POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE (AI) – a stunning almost 3- year-old ruby dog. He took my breath away when he entered the ring and didn’t disappoint once I judged him on the table. From the tip of his lovely black nose to his tail that never stopped wagging he is the epitome of everything cavalier. His coat is a lovely correct texture and in gleaming condition. On closer inspection his head was all that the standard asks for, almost flat between the ears, correct balance of length of muzzle, shallowness of stop and fill below the eyes, giving that gentle expression. Correct size and proportions with lovely angulation which meant he moved with elegance and purpose. Best Dog, Dog CC, Best Open and Best in Show
2 nd - SUP CH CARIBELLE ICY COLD BUT COOL (AI) a 6-year-old blenheim dog, richly marked and with a good quality coat. He moved soundly, never putting a foot wrong. His breed type is evident in his correct head and expression, with large round dark eyes set well in his head, his black pigment and his overall balance both in head and body with nothing exaggerated. Reserve Best Dog
3 rd - Ms D L Petersen: CH. DAPSEN CHIP OFF THE OL BLOCK another quality blenheim, just a few days short of his fifth birthday. Very well broken, rich colour and in lovely coat. Dark, large round eyes, gentle expression and good pigment. He showed very well and moved soundly with a level topline. He gave way to first and second in length of neck but pushed hard all through the class.
4 th - AUST. SUPREME CH. SHEEBA ALTHOF RED IS BACK (IMP.USA) Minor Puppy Bitch – another lovely class and the 3 could have easily swapped places 1 st - Kym Brooksby: CAVASHON SUGAR RUSH – a just 6-month-old blenheim girl, nicely marked, my notes say moved like a dream around the ring, beautifully made. A correct and pleasant head has a few freckles but that doesn’t detract from her appearance and expression. Moved with a lMinor Puppy in Show
2 nd - Ms D L Petersen: DAPSEN THE BOSS LADY – another just six-month-old blenheim girl, lovely dark eyes, and pigment, also moving very well.
3 rd - Kym Brooksby: CAVASHON PLAYING THE GAME – almost 8 month old blenheim, also with a lovely head and movement, nice angulation front and rear. 4 th -

Puppy Bitch 1 st - Caribelle Knls: CARIBELLE KAHLUA ON ICE – a 10.5 month old blenheim bitch, beautiful rich colour and mature for her age. 2 nd - Mrs J Humphries: LOOKINGGLASS ENCHANTMENT – a 10-month-old blenheim bitch and pushed the winner very hard. A very pretty feminine head, with large dark eyes, set correctly. Not quite the maturity of first place. Showed herself of very well.
3 rd - Mathew Morse & Will Henderson: MATMOR INTRICATE DESIGN – almost 9-month-old tricolour bitch. Heavily marked. I think this girl is one to watch for the future, very pretty feminine head with plenty of room to mature into. Wonderful topline and front and rear angulation.
4 th - Greg Browne: EIREANNMADA CAROUSEL
5 th - Amanda Perry: SPENELLIE MEADOWS OF HEAVEN
Junior Bitch 1 st - Ms D L Petersen: CH. DAPSEN DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE - a well marked blenheim bitch, moves so well keeping a wonderful straight topline. A pretty head with large dark eyes and dark pigment. Lovely coat and shows so well for her handler.

DAPSEN THE SECRETS WE KEEP – a 4-year-old quality tricolour bitch, very well broken, didn’t have the coat and finish of the first bitch. But pushed her hard for first place. Bitch CC and Runner up Best in Show 2 nd - Mathew Morse & Will Henderson: SUPREME CH MATMOR SOCIALITE – an almost 5-year-old quality black and tan bitch. She pushed the first place very hard all through the class. A very pretty feminine girl, with large dark eyes and wonderful pigmentation she moved soundly and kept her level topline at all times.

Australian Bred Dog 1 st - Mr ML Morse & Mr WA Henderson: CH MATMOR JOSE CARRERAS (AI) – a 4.5-year-old quality black and tan dog, a really pleasing head and expression with large, dark round eyes, correct length of muzzle.

Reserve Best Dog
